Of COURSE I had to enter this contest, how could I not? Anyhow, here is my entry for Eternity9 's design contest- I tried a lineless style this time so it's... odd, and I need to make the eye bigger, but I think the overall design turned out good!
For my dragon, I chose Amethyst, from Steven Universe, because the world needs more Gem Dragons.
Design reasoning-
- She's small and chubby, of course, because Amethyst is small and chubby.

- The fluffy fur, again, is easy to explain- a noticeable part of Amethyst's design is her big head of fluffy hair. To translate this into a dragon trait, she gets to be an imperial-type dragon.
- This is where the explanations get more complex- Imperial Dragons are usually large, long, with horns and whiskers and claws, right? Right. Why doesn't Amethyst-dragon have these? Simple- in the show, Amethyst was left 'cooking' too long in the Kindergarden. Because of this, she is smaller and weaker than other Amethysts, and is considered defective by many other gyms. So keeping this in mind, I decided that Amethyst-dragon spent far too long in her egg, and now has developmental problems because of this. She just can't seem to lengthen, and her horns are nothing but nubs under all that hair. What a pity.
- Now, anyone who has watched SU knows about the Gem's weapons, and how entwined they are to the gem. Amethyst's is a whip, split at the end- since a dragon doesn't really need to use a weapon in the say way people do(Come on, she has paws and walks on four legs, how's she supposed to swing that thing?) So instead, when she suppons her weapon it's attached to her tail- which being long and strong would likely have been used as a whip anyway- this way it has extra punch.
- Finally, I've edited her gem. Since Amethyst's gem is on her chest, I decided to give it a more chestplate-like look, to make it look more dragon-like and not just a copy of show-amethyst.
And I think that's it. She's a rather simple design because the show uses rather simple designs. Fingers crossed~
