There was nothing left to do but run.
And run she did- casting a glance over her shoulder to simply count heads as the band fled the Azubike- four, no more, and no less. It wasn't until Judah hadn't caught up for the third time she glanced over her shoulder that Zoya slowed her run to a trot, then a walk, and then as her uncle's paws joined the rest of them once more.... Stopped.
Ever last atom of her hurt- she hadn't even glanced up, in all the running, all the anxieties of the dawn that was now breaking, to see if her guide had appeared to show her the way. The way.... to oblivion. It all seemed for naught, now, with paws run raw and bar
